Mehrangarh Fort, located in Jodhpur city in Rajasthan state is one of the largest forts in India. The fort is situated on a lofty height, 400 feet (122 m) above the city, and is enclosed by imposing thick walls. Inside its boundaries there are several palaces, which are known for their intricate carvings and sprawling courtyards. A meandering road leads to and from the city below. Battle scars of cannon ball hits by attacking armies of Jaipur can still be seen on the second gate. Jodhpur is the second largest city in the Indian State of Rajasthan, It is also referred to as Blue City due to the blue-painted houses around the Mehrangarh Fort. From New Delhi to Jodhpur is about twelve hours by train, luckily we manage to get A/C Sleeper Class so our long journey quite comfortable, since our journey from Old Delhi Train Station depart at night 8:30PM there’s not much photo opportunity along the way, I woke up a bit late actually, thanks to the A/C coach, maybe too comfortable for me. We have decided that we must get out from New Delhi the very next day or we will be stuck here in New Delhi, so our first agenda on the next day 11th June is to get a train ticket. Before we leave our hotel, according to our hotel receptionist, New Delhi Railway Station is just a walking distance away, along Main Bazaar Pahar Ganj, so we just move ahead. As written before in my previous post, we have arrange in advance with the hotel that we want to stay for a pickup at the airport. I highly suggest to all first time traveler to India to pre arrange a pickup, so you don’t need to waste your time looking for a taxi that most of the times with take you or try to persuade you to go to his chosen hotel, maybe he got some commission, so to make things easy, book your hotel in advance and ask your hotel to send someone to pick you up.
