Travel Photography | Human Touch
© 2008 Wazari Wazir | Mabul Island | Sabah | Malaysia North Borneo I’m taking a break from posting my son picture here, just to make my blog a little bit interesting. This entry is about travel photography, from my point of view. I’m not an expert on this field because I’m not a travel photographer by profession, even though I wish I were but nevertheless as a photographer I do travel a lot but this photograph above which I took in 2008 is not part of my official assignment. This is personal photographic outing with my friends in Mabul Island of Sabah. Let me get straight without wasting too…

Basic Photography | What is a Fast Lens?
© 2007 Wazari Wazir | Raptor Watch | Tanjung Tuan Malacca Lens speed refers to the maximum aperture diameter, or minimum f-number, of a photographic lens. A lens with a larger maximum aperture (that is, a smaller minimum f-number) is a fast lens because it delivers more light intensity (illuminance) to the focal plane, allowing a faster shutter speed. A smaller maximum aperture (larger minimum f-number) is “slow” because it delivers less light intensity and requires a slower shutter speed. A lens may be referred to as “fast” or “slow” depending on its maximum aperture compared to other lenses of similar focal length designed for a similar film format. Lens speed given by the minimum f-number, or alternatively maximum aperture diameter or maximum numerical aperture,…

Photojournalism | Malaysia King Birthday Celebrations
© 2011 Wazari Wazir | Malaysia King Birthday Celebrations at Dataran Merdeka Kuala Lumpur Malaysia King Birthday Celebrations usually took place on the very first Saturday of June each year, which in this year fall on 4th June 2011 at Merdeka Square or “Dataran Merdeka” Kuala Lumpur. This event normally last for about an hour from the moment the King arrive at 8 AM until 9 AM. The photographs above were shot with 300mm f2.8 lens because the distance was quite far away, we can use 70-200mm lens but you will never get this tight. I’ve seen photojournalist who are using 400mm lens to get this shot, its all depends…

Basic Photography | Composition | Using Repetition and Patterns in Photography
© 2008 Wazari Wazir | 51st Anniversary of Independence | Malaysia National Day Celebration | Kuala Lumpur I have nothing much to write here, just wanted to share with you a little bit about composition, which is using repetitive patterns for composition. The photographs above were taken in 2008 during our National Day Celebration here in Kuala Lumpur, I purposely choose a higher angle to get this shot, you will never get this kind of patterns if we shoot from the ground, same eye level with them, the only way os to shoot from above so that you can see the patterns. Using a longer lens help to make things…
