“And I walked for hours, imagining the mist growing thick and swallowing me whole. The thought of disappearing like that, so simply, made me so happy.”

“The Early Bird Gets The Worm”. I think everyone knows that and when it comes to photography, those who rise early definitely have a chance to get a better photographs. Normally the best lighting when it comes to natural light is during early morning and late afternoon when the sun is low in the sky. We often refer it to the golden light, but there is also a place where we normally can’t get a golden light during early morning, what you will get is a thick blanket of mist, like here in Bario Sarawak.
I’ve spent almost a week here in Bario Sarawak and I notice that the best time to get a photo opportunity when it comes to landscape is during early morning. Bario is known for its cool climate and what is the better way to show it than a picture of a blanket of mist. It can get hotter here during midday but very cold at night at during early morning before 9 am.
The above photograph were not a pre plan shot, me and my friend just wandering around looking for some picture and happens to saw this man walking with his dog going somewhere, maybe going to work or something. What attract me is their reflections in the water. So I quickly grab my camera which were attached with 24-70 mm and take a few shots. This scene can also happens during midday but without the blanket of mist, I don’t think the mood will be the same, it is different atmosphere, it will be just ordinary.
And one more thing about “The early bird gets the worm”, I wrote this blog post around 4:30 Am in the morning when my wife and children still sleeping, I will not have a chance or peace of mind writing this post when when my children screaming for my attention and just like any other blog post before this, normally it is written at this time.
