According to Oxford Dictionaries, Selfie is a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website. Selfie is the norm nowadays, people do it almost every time and everywhere, but it is not everyday occurrence that someone get a chance to take a selfie with a Prime Minister.
Anyway I took the photograph above during my assignment for KL Car-Free Morning in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday morning. After the flag-off at 7am in front of KLCC, Prime Minister Najib Razak, walk to get his bicycle and then he was approach by this man, Suhaily Ahmad Isa, one of the participant, ask the Prime Minister for a selfie and to my surprise, Najib willingly pose for a selfie.
Yes, I know, it is not smoothing new for someone to take a photograph with the Prime Minister but posing for a selfie, like the photograph above is still quite rare and not many people has the gut to do so, I mean has got the gut to ask someone very important in this country surrounded by few bodyguards for a selfie. Actually I do envy this man for his courage to take the risk and in life if you never ask, the answer will always be No.
I mange to get the shot because at the moment, my camera was attached with the 16-35 mm lens, super wide angle lens and I was very close with the man, I will never get the photograph if my camera was attached to the 70-200 mm lens, talking about be at the right time and place with the right equipment at hand.
Just to let you know also, during US President Barack Obama visit to Malaysia recently, our Prime Minister also has taken a selfie with him, at Seri Perdana, Official Residence of Prime Minister and also inside “The Beast”.
