Portrait Photography With 50 mm Lens | Arianna

When it comes to portrait photography of my children, 50 mm prime lens is my choice. Yes, I know, it is not the best lens but the best that I can afford. Currently I’m using Canon 50 mm f1.4 lens, a lot more cheeper than 50 mm f/1.2. Before this I use Nikon f1/4 lens. Yes there are much more expensive 50 mm lens like f1/2 but the one I’m using here is 50 mm f/1.4.
Like I said before, it is not the best lens but the one that I can afford and I’m quite satisfied with it. I’m not really into super creamy bokeh, when it comes to portraiture, so this lens suit me. But, if you were to ask me, if I’ve extra money after going traveling here and there and still have a lot of money to spend, I will definitely get a Canon 85 mm f/1.2 L II USM lens for my portraiture.
But in real world, even if I’ve that kind of money, I better spend it on flight ticket, going to Machu Picchu in Peru or trekking the Torres del Paine National Park in Chile for an example.
I’m not into portrait of lifestyle photography business, I’m a casual shooter and for most of my time I use 50 mm lens to photograph my family, so I don’t think I should invest with the best optics available. I better use it for traveling instead. Rather than spending a huge sum of money on optical, I better take may family around the world. I believe the best portrait of them taken with the best optics will never be the same as the experience that they will get traveling the globe.
I can go on and on, but, I believe, you get the message clearly, even though I did not use the best computer writing this blog post.
