The Petronas Twin Towers is really and Icon for Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia at large, and since 2014 has been officially declared as the Visit Malaysia Year, this place will definitely attracts a lot of visitors from abroad. This is the place for me and my family spending the weekend, if I’ve nothing much to do. It is not just a great place to hang around but there is a lot of interesting things here, there is a large and spacious Suria KLCC shopping malls, (he yellow coloured building) where you can get the latest in fashion and nice food court to whet your appetite which is located at level two and level four, but there is also small boutique restaurant located at various part in this building.
My main attraction here as a family man, is the KLCC playground, where I can take my little children playing around and not to forget my favourite bookshop also located inside the shopping mall, Kinokuniya bookshop located at the forth floor, where I spend most of my time.
Anyway talking a little bit about photography, you really need a super wide angle lens if you hoping to captured the entire structure in a frame with a close distance. If you only have 35 mm at your widest, then you really need to step back quite far away from this building in order for you to get it in full.
The photograph above were taken with 16-35 mm lens with a full frame camera body. I took the shot from the top of a small bridge at the park. The top photograph where I took the shot at night wasn’t so great, I know, actually I’m hoping to get a “Blue Hour” kind of light but the weather wasn’t so good, it was cloudy and “blue hour” is nowhere to be seen.
Judging from the photograph above, the Petronas Twin Towers really look great at night, if you wish to photograph this place and hoping to get a “Blue Hour” kind of shot where the sky is not in total darkness, make sure you are here somewhere around 7 PM to 7:30 PM, if the weather and the sky is clear, you will definitely get a better picture than what you have seen here.
Talking about Visit Malaysia Year 2014, most people especially tourist will arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport or KLIA, and the fastest way to reach here is to take KLIA Express Link direct to KL Sentral, which will took you around 37 minutes more or less, the from KL Sentral you need to change train, buy a new ticket and take a PUTRA Line LRT to KLCC Station, which will took you in less than 15 minutes. In total, within one hour or a little bit more (taking the time waiting for the train), after you arrived, you can be here.
Malaysia is a small country, but then I’ve to admit that there is still a lot of places that I’ve never been to, especially the remote area in Sabah and Sarawak. If you don’t like modern city, then you can head to Malaysia Taman Negara or National Park located in Pahang or head over to Langkawi, Perhentian Island, Tioman, Redang, if you like beaches.
If you like some kind of an adventure, I would like to suggest to you to head over to Mount Kinabalu located in Sabah, Malaysia North Borneo, yes, you need to get a flight to travel there, it took around two hours by flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to reach Kota Kinabalu Sabah and from Kota Kinabalu, you will reach Kinabalu Park, where you will start the climb, but off-course, you need to make some reservation to book your place in advance.
If you don’t like mountain and prefer beaches, the is also great beaches and Island all around Sabah, the closest that you can get from Kota Kinabalu is Tanjung Aru beach and there is few Island as well just few minutes boat ride from Kota Kinabalu like Manukan Island and Gayana. If you like diving, the Sipadan. Kapalai, Mabul is a must visit Island.
It is almost impossible for me to list all the main attraction here, for more information I suggest you to visit Tourism Malaysia Website
