”But Risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing. The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing. He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he cannot learn, feel, change, grow or live. Chained by his servitude he is a slave who has forfeited all freedom. Only a person who risks is free. The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; and the realist adjusts the sails.”
– William Arthur Ward –
If someone ever ask me, why I did this, why I’m torturing myself trekking for a few days in the mountain, braving the mountain cold, leaving the comfort f my home, I simply don’t have an answer for that. Malaysia is a beautiful tropical country, I can spend lazing around under the shadows of coconut tree at the beach for a few days but then I choose to do some trekking.
I guess I’m not a beach boy and I rarely feel exited going to the beach but show me the mountain and my adrenaline kicks in. I’m not doing this to prove something to someone, I’m doing this for myself. I think George Mallory said its best, “because it’s there”.
But, if you were to ask me, who George Mallory is? Then trekking or climbing the mountain is not really your cup of coffee. Beautiful beaches is waiting for you…
