I can spent the whole day walking allong this beautiful Boulevard Road here in Srinagar Kashmir, from stranger point of view, this place is so beautiful, I don’t know how local people view about this place but this is an amazing place, it can get busy at a times and from here you can take the Shikara to tour the lake or you can plan your journey to some other place like to Leh Ladakh, you can travel to Ladakh by road from Srinagar.
While in Kashmir, we were staying at Swiss Hotel Kashmir , less than five minutes walk from the taxi stand there. Mr Rouf Rashid, the hotel manager always kept reminding us to get to the “right” Taxi stand No 3 to plan our journey. He said there are many “Clone” Taxi Stand No 3, and he was right, while walking from our hotel to get into the “Right Taxi Stand” I saw a signage of “Taxi Stand No 3” not very far from the hotel but thanks to Mr Rouf, I know that was the “wrong” taxi stand no 3, the real taxi stand is at the Boulevard Road facing the famous Dal Lake, opposite the Shikara Stand.
What’s wrong with the “Clone Taxi Stand No 3”? They will charge you more than what it should be. Hopefully with this photographs, you can get a better idea, a clearer vision about the right taxi stand no 3. The price written on the board there, just outside the taxi stand is for per vehicle, not per person, so if you traveling with four people, you can split the cost and the price there is for return journey, for an example, you can take the taxi (four wheel drive) from this taxi stand to Gulmarg for Rs 1800 per vehicle for a return journey but if you choose to stay overnight at Gulmarg, they will charge you for Rs1600 one way, why? Because they have to cover the cost of returning with empty vehicle.
