Travel Photography | Istanbul | Point of View From Galata Tower

What is point of view? Basically it is the position, direction and height of the camera define the point of view of a picture. In travel photography it is always a good habit to find the best possible higher angle to get an overall view of the city you are visiting. For an example when I was in Istanbul, I make sure that I will get a better view of some part of Istanbul from a higher ground, and in this case, the best place in Istanbul to get an overall view of Istanbul is from the iconic Galata Tower.
From Galata tower you can see, Aya Sofya, Blue Mosque, some part of Topkapi Museum and also the famous Galata Bridge and Spice Bazaar just across the road and nit to forget the beautiful Bosphorus or Istanbul Strait. The best time to visit this Galata Tower is one or two hours before sunset, if the weather is great, you will get a beautiful golden light to your advantage and depending on the season you are visiting, sometimes it can get really crowded up there.
Me and my friends spend almost two hours up there, the reason is because it was crowded in the evening, and the place is to walk around the tower is narrow, we have to wait in line circling the tower to get a better view of the Bosphorus and we need to circle few times to satisfy our photographic needs. I don’t mind spending few hours up there because Kuala Lumpur and Istanbul is very far, almost eleven hours non-stop flight to get here. Other than taking photograph from the tower, we let ourselves enjoy the amazing Istanbul with our naked eyes with our camera hanging on our shoulder.
