Lately I like to take a Photograph of my son with iPhone camera, it was so easy to use and I can take picture of my son playing with his toys without annoying him too much. But still may my arsenal will always be a DSLR, I like the detail that DSLR can captured but I also like to have a choice especially if I wanted to take a picture of my son on the fly because the iPhone always there with me and unlike DSLR which I don’t carry it around the clock due to its size.
This Photograph were taken with just natural light, outside main door of my house, after shooting with iPhone I then quickly grab my DSLR when I notice that my son less active that afternoon, maybe because he was too tired running around at the children playground the morning before. I purposely add the grain in the Photoshop, why? Maybe it is just my taste, I feel like I wanted to add something to the picture or maybe because I just like to play with Photoshop, anyway this photograph were shot at ISO 200 at f2 at 1/250 using my favorite 50mm lens, so actually this picture is very clean from the noise, it was added later. You can visit my flickr to see a the same picture without the noise.
Be always remember guys especially to those of you who just find an interest in portrait photography to always focus on the eyes, in portrait, the eyes must be sharp unless for some reason you want to highlight their hair or their hands but if the portrait of the person is your main concern, always focus and lock into their eyes and be remember also if you shoot at wide aperture like f2 or f2.8 with 50mm or longer lens like 85mm f1.8, always make sure that you use a very fast shutter speed because of the shallow depth of field, if you use slow shutter speed, shoot it without a tripod, a sudden jerk while you press the shutter button will divert it’s focusing and the result is quite blurry picture or unless you purposely wanted a blurry picture, it’s your take.
A portrait photography without a sharp eyes is not a strong portrait, The Eyes is The Window of The Soul…
