Above photograph were taken during Malaysia Prime Minister visit to Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) where he launch The Assembly of Farmers, Breeders and Fishermen 2011 on April 22nd 2011.
I’m not going to write a story about the event since I’m not a writer but a photographer but I like to share something with you guys what I personally found it to be interesting during the event.
I want you to focus your attention to the people around the Prime Minister, especially their expression when they have a chance to be quite close to the Prime Minister of Malaysia where normally they only see him at the television.
On the first photograph, where the Prime Minister just arrived, he is given a special beret hat from Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) that everybody worn during the event. I like to see the expression of the people around it, it is just a simple or normal occasion where usually someone will attached a small flower to his shirt and in this case The Prime Minister were given a beret to be worn during the event. I just can’t figure it out, the feelings of that man when he lift up the beret and trying to put the hat on the Prime Minister head.
It is not a difficult task if the man is normal person but he is The Prime Minister of Malaysia, I guess the man must be very proud to be given that responsibility on that day. Maybe this is nothing to you and me but I guess it is something to be remember for for the rest of his life. Don’t forget also to look at the expression of the Prime Minister bodyguard behind (wearing a dark bush jacket), even though it is quite hidden but you can see his expression or concern about the safety of the Prime Minister.
Then take a look at the expression of the people around him when he stir the “Gulai Kawah” one of Malaysia Traditional Cuisine. Together with the Prime Minister stirring the “Gulai Kawah” is Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, Datuk Noh Omar on the left hand side of the Prime Minister, and other people is government higher ranking officer. I took that shot with Ultra Wide Angle Lens (UWA) 10-20mm so that I can include as many people as I can in the frame because they are part of the story and not just the Prime Minister himself.
Telling the story in pictures is what we photojournalist do. Some pictures can be quite ordinary but to someone who have a chance to be quite close to the the Prime Minister on that day, this ordinary picture means everything to them.
