Federal Territory Day, or Hari Wilayah Persekutuan as it is known in Malay, falls on 1st February and celebrates the anniversary of the formation of the Federal Territory in 1974. This day is declared a holiday in the Federal Territory, where visitors will see the streets transformed by parades and fireworks, with various cultural activities and fascinating exhibitions happening in a whole host of different locations. This year the celebration was held at Dataran Merdeka on 29th January 2011.
Today, the Federal Territory comprises three cities: Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya. Labuan is an island off the coast of Sabah and joined the territory in 1984 as an offshore financial centre, while Putrajaya was a planned city, built as the administrative centre of Malaysia and was officially signed in on 1 February, 2001.
I rarely shoot a landscape or architectural shot actually, but I just could not resist the blue sky in Kuala Lumpur today. I did not planned to shoot this Malaysia iconic landmark, Petronas Twin Tower but I was here for Le Tour de Langkawi 2011 assignment, while waiting for the peloton to arrive, I was busy taking pictures here in the Kuala Lumpur City Center compound. It was raining non stop here in Kuala Lumpur previous day, so I guess this is why the sky is so clear, so deep, so beautiful.
I took this shot with UWA or Ultra Wide Angle Lens 10-20mm, so I don’t have to move far back to get everything in the frame, from top to bottom, when facing with this area, especially this tall building, UWA lens really shines. Very little was done in Photoshop to boost the sky because it was already deep blue, I don’t even use Polarizer filter here and I don’t need ND or Graduated filter to captured this beauty, because it was already great. Only three cities were on public holiday today, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan, the rest of the country, is business as usual, that’s why not many people around here.
*For tourist or traveler who wanted to visit here, KLCC Petronas Twin Tower, if you arrive at KLIA or Kuala Lumpur International Airpot, just take ERL or Express Rail Link and it will take you from KLIA to K.L Sentral in about 30 mins and from there at K.L sentral, just take a Putra LRT and you will reach KLCC area in less than twenty minutes later, it took less than one hour for you to get here from Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
