Colmar Tropicale is the unique French-Themed Resort attraction at Bukit Tinggi Resort. It stands approximately 2,600 feet above sea level on 80 acres of natural forestland. The first of its kind in Malaysia, it is modelled after the 16th Century Colmar Village in Alsace, France and has retained the authenticity and European feel of its counterpart.
The Colmar Tropicale can be reached from Karak Highway, approximately 45 minute drive from Kuala Lumpur, after Genting Sempah Tunnel, look to your left and pay close attention to Berjaya Hills Resort signage and you are on the right track. Because of its location, you can’t see the resort from the highway. If you come from KLIA Kuala Lumpur International Airport, it will take you 1 hour and 45 minute to get here. It is a great place for us Malaysian to have a taste of French Countryside who could not afford to go there in person.
We don’t stay here at the resort but we just came here for a short stay. There is an entrance fees to get into the resort if you are not staying there, for adult you need to pay RM12 per person and no extra charge for camera. It is a great place for photography and during our short visit there I can see a lot of photographers enjoying themselves here.
This place can be quite busy especially during school holiday, and maybe get crowded in the late afternoon so if you really wanted to enjoy this place especially if you wanted to take a great picture of this place, I really recommended you to come early, if you arrive here somewhere around 8 AM then I think you will definitely enjoy the best light here.
After you finished touring this place you can head over to Japanese Village which is located at approximately 3500 feet above sea level and just close nearby is a Botanical Garden, a great place to visit if you like gardening.
We spent almost three hours here before heading back to Kuala Lumpur because by afternoon the lighting was a bit harsh and not very suitable for photography purpose.
