Another busy assignment for me and my friends at my department during Official Visit of The Honourable Julia Gillard, Prime Minister of Australia to Malaysia on 1st November 2010. Just few days ago we have official visit from Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India. It’s like back to back High Profile assignment.
As usual whenever there is official visit from head of state or head of the government to Malaysia our our photography team from Information Department of Malaysia were responsible to provide full coverage of the visit and also to provide an official album for the visit. This time the schedule was very tight, just few hours after the Official Welcoming Ceremony here in Putrajaya, Prime Minister Julia Gillard will depart for Indonesia, so we have a very limited time to arrange the photo for the album.
We don’t have much time to go back to our office since it will take approximately forty five minutes to get there from Putrajaya, so what we have to do is we email all the selected pictures during the welcoming ceremony from Prime Minister Office to the lab where they printed the picture and another person from our department wait at the photo lab to make the album. We were really rushing this time, no matter what, the album must be ready at the airport before the Prime Minister depart.
This time, our Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin took Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak’s role during a meeting with Gillard, after Najib Razak was advised to rest at home and avoid all public contact and official functions as a result of early signs of chicken pox. This is another rare occasion because normally our Prime Minister will welcome the head of state or head of government.
Even though we were running out of time, we still get the album done on time with a great teamwork from our department. Most of the people doesn’t really know our role as the official photographer for the Government of Malaysia because normally we just do our job without making any fuss. I’ve a blog, so I think there is nothing wrong to share a little bit of our roles during this kind of events. Sometimes when it is our day to day job, there is nothing much to talk about, but this is what we do to bring foods on the table for our family.
Actually our roles is more than just to provide a full coverage during the official visit from the head of state or head of the government to Malaysia, we have others things to do as well but maybe I’ll blog about it later when I’ve more free times to spare.
