Portrait Photography | A Moment To Remember

What I like most about a picture with human element in it is the ability to captured a beautiful moment as it happens. Unlike landscape photography where we don’t need to rush to get a picture, same thing can’t be said when we took a picture like this, a moment happens unexpectedly and what I like most about a candid picture is, each and every frame is different even if we shoot it at ten frame of a second, every frame will be different, if we do the same to landscape photography, each frame is more or less will look the same furthermore people who shoot landscape usually use tripod and most of the time they shoot one single frame at a time, even though they are shooting a sunset or a sunrise, they can still take the times, the sun does not goes down or going up at a very rapid pace.
We need to master our equipment in order to captured a candid picture as it happens, a camera must be the extension of ourselves so we can concentrate taking pictures rather than fiddling around with our equipment. This kind of a picture will be remembered forever, will become a family treasure, will have a story to tell, will become memorable. It is hard to tell when a sunset at the beach is taken but it so not so hard to differentiate when this picture is taken if my son is growing up, maybe we don’t know exactly the years the picture is taken but if my son growing up and have a family on its own, he can tell this picture is taken when he was a small kid, a toddler. People can tell or make a wild guess about my son age here from the size of my son, three years, for years something like that.
You can’t say the same about a sunset picture taken at the beach where there is no landmark in the picture, just an empty beach and the sun, a picture today may look the same as the next twenty years is nothing happens at the beach, maybe the lighting will be a little bit different, maybe more colorful than previously taken, but people are different, they growing up, their face will look different, they will look old and I believe landscape picture will never grow old, it’s just will look different.
The moment will make a lot of different between good picture or not. A candid moment can’t be repeated, it happens once and even though we try to fake it, it ill never look the same especially when it involved a small kid like my son, you can’t direct him to do what you have in your mind because a child like my son age have a mind on its own. Always wanted to be free, always wanted to play around and will get irritated when we disturb them. It will never easy to photograph a children because they will never listen but I like the challenge, I like to captured a moment that will be remembered forever. A moment that can’t be repeated.
