Playing With Photoshop Texture

Playing with Photoshop Texture  is not everyone cup of coffee especially for Malaysian, this kind of editing is quite new for some of Malaysian photographers,  the fact is this kind of technique has been around for quite some time especially for those photographers in Europe or American. They like this kind of vintage, retro look kind of editing. Luckily now, thanks to the internet, people are more open for this kind of technique but still it is not for everyone.

I’m not a good businessman but the truth is my Photoshop Texture eBook has been well received  worldwide, I received an order from America, South America, Germany, France, United Kingdom and our neighboring country, and not to forget from Malaysian photographers as well. For me editing is an art in itself, for those of you who know Ansel Adams which is famous for his black and white photography and have developed Zone System must know that he spent a lot of times in the darkroom to “edit” his picture, by dodging and burning in the darkroom to get a beautiful black and white print.

In those days you can’t get a beautiful tone of black and white print  just by exposing the paper straight under  the enlarger and hope that your black and white print coming up with deep rich black and white tone. You need to exposed some part of the paper a little bit longer to the light to make it darker and to exposed very little light to some part of the scene to make it brighter, yes, it is a reverse process in those days, more light exposed and you get dark area. Only by doing this kind of editing you will get a very nice looking black and white print.

My point writing this article is that, editing does matters and it make a lot of different in term of printing output. Back to the texture above, editing is an art, because it takes skills to produce great editing, taking picture is a skill in itself also, which normally people refer to as “The Art of Seeing” and when it comes to editing I can say that it is “The Art of Editing”.
