Here’s I want to share with you a little secret with you. back in the old days, not that old actually but back in the days where my son is still a “baby” not a toddler like nowadays, people use to ask me, why I’ve always photographed my son wearing a hat, a snow cap? Do you think just to make my son handsome, cute or I’ve something that I want to hide about my son hair? None of the them is the right answer, the main reason why I’ve always put a hat or snow cap on my son head is solely for photographic reason.
The purpose of the hat is to help to “frame” my son face better, the hat help to separate my son head from the background, can you imagine what will happen if I remove the hat from my son head in the above picture and try to get a deep solid black background? My son hair will blend into the background, we are Asian family and my son hair is not blonde or having a red colored hair, my son hair is black, so the reason why I’m using that hat is to separate my son hair from the background and it helps to frame my son face better.
It is as simple as that and if you were to ask me, why lately I seldom put a hat on my son head? The answer is very simple indeed, he get tired of it and will throw the hat away. He get annoyed with the hat nowadays, if only he knew the purpose of the hat in the very first place…
